Great photos and so glad you found your 'prince charming.' Michael seems like a great guy from your description and I wish you both: 1.) a Happy Birthday 2.) Congrats for your 1st Anniversary on Substack.
Also, the most successful writers had their share of rejections, so stay strong!
Thank you so much. 🫶🏻 I am very very very lucky I found my person for sure. I never take it for granted (thanks to my crazy dating history). I know what I gem I have and how lovely it feels to be loved and happy and exist in a peaceful home. ❤️ I look forward to your next post. 🤩
What a fun romp in the hills. Sure rain happens. That's why is so gorgeous there! Glad my book review inspired you to read The Secret Sisterhood. I enjoyed it too. Made me want to dig into those archives and read the original correspondences. How fun.
I probably won't commit to the 100-days challenge but I write (or edit) every day. So I'll be doing it.
I've be reading good books lately but unlikely you've heard of them. Book reviews in the works.
"Northern Voices: 40 years on the Poetry Beat," by Mike Pride (thoughts on eight New Hampshire poets.)
"The Last Bookshop in London," Madeline Martin, a literary fiction set in London during the Blitz, way more pop-fiction than I usually read but I really enjoyed the writing.
Currently reading, "The Slip" by Prudence Peiffer (NF), about the painters who lived on Coenties Slip at the southern tip of Manhattan between 1956-1967 (Indiana, Kelly, Martin, Rosenquist, Youngerman, etc)
I can definitely see how much research went into Secret Sisterhood! I look forward to your next reviews. I mostly read pop fiction but many of the books you’ve written about have been intriguing.
that last photo, of your windswept hair, awkward pose climbing up, it's the best. If you think about it, would you rather frame a gorgeous photo of you that caused an argument between you and your husband, or a silly photo where you are a dot but was taken on a taking-the-ring-to-mordor day in a place that you both love (?) and with thai food involved? I mean.... (ps: good luck with all the submissions, and I'm sure you'll learn from the rejections. They're not rejecting YOU as a person! )
😂😂😂 Ha! Yes! I’ll forever have the memory of laughing at the far away photos but that’s sort of typical of my husband who is always trying to make me laugh. But he’s learning to take better photos now. 🤔 Thanks! I imagine I’ll also get rejected with these competitions but it keeps me going. 😅 It being the structure. 🫶🏻😘
Love all this for you. Even the rejection which objectively sucks but is what comes with putting yourself out there which is a brave and brilliant thing to do. Keep going & the right person to work with will say yes, I’m sure of it.
Side note: have you heard of NaNoWriMo? Might be worth doing after your 100 days, I’m going to do it after doing last year. I don’t know either if you saw my note about starting a first draft club, if you’re up for it as I’m also starting my first draft of a first novel.
Also love the sound of the books, saving to come back tomorrow when I’m not on my phone and google them all one by one!
And finally love the sound of Michael. More similarities: I’m 37, my partner is 46. He also takes care of the laundry and cooking. He doesn’t have Michael’s abs but you never know, maybe one day (but I’m very happy either way!) Aren’t we lucky! Happy birthday to him.
I have heard of NaNoWriMo, but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet but I may give it a go next year. How was it when you did it last year? I didn't see your note re the first draft club, but I'll try and find it.
Michael is amazing and after soooo many dating disasters, I'm very thankful for him. And tbf, Michael no longer has Michael's abs. Heh! (He has some but a lot less than back in the day and I love that he's so body positive that he doesn't even care.) But yes, we are very lucky. Love the similarities. Thanks for sharing. :D
