Wow, this behind the scenes is fascinating! I am GLAD you received that DM and tried it out yourself. During a corporate leadership workshop they did a similar thing, having us write feedback for a teammate and then pushing it further, encouraging us to reach out to a few colleagues we work with and look up to, and ask them for feedback ourselves. I didn't do it because I chickened out. What an anti-climactic comment. Wah Wah.
ouch :S naming and shaming? I hope not. I hope they either ignored your DM or were at least kind in answering 'no thank you'?... I wonder if they somehow received more DMs about subscribing than usual and yours just happened to be in the mix. SO MANY QUESTIONS
π€£ Oh not quite as bad as naming and shaming. This person had replied to my message quite politely promising to share a list of tips to βgrow my Substackβ β which this person did provide β and then adapted and added to that list and included the βno nosβ and shared that via a note. π€ππ± And I suppose itβs entirely possible that I wasnβt the first person to approach this person and it may be coincidental but when I came across the note it seemed a little jarring. π³π€ͺ
It was nice to get your message so I'm glad you did it! Interested to know how you worked out who was a follower but not a subscriber? It doesn't seem like there's an easy way to actually check??
At first I couldnβt figure it out but then I somehow (and now I canβt remember how but Iβll find out and report back) found the follower list because the dashboard if you click the follower bit just takes you on an endless loop to your subscribers. π But with some miracle button there is a way to find the followers. π€£
Thanks for the shoutout Elaine!
I feel honoured you subscribed. Thank you. π«Άπ» Love your work. π₯°

I mean the thought never occurred to me to be honest but I thought I didnβt find it offensive to be messaged so why not. π€·π»ββοΈπ
I hope you eventually ask for feedback β if you want it. π
Oh and then today one of the people I messaged wrote this whole note about how awful it is to message people and ask them to Subscribe. πππ
