Ha! 🫶🏻 It is just when you put another word between “to + verb” so the most famous split infinitive: to boldly go! Which technically should be “to go boldly” but that doesn’t pack the same punch. 😉
Thanks, Elaine! That’s exactly the kind of lesson I slept through (eyes still magically open) during grammar and math, too. My ability to put any sentence together has more to do with reading a lot than any grammar I remember. Incidentally, should I have written (eyes still open magically?) or does that rule only apply when the adverb follows to?
Only applies when there’s the word “to” in the sentence but yeah, most people internalise grammar lessons a bit more informally. I am much better so maybe approaching 85%. Thank you. 🫶🏻🙏🏻
There’s lots of sicknesses going around so I think I am just catching new things and because I’ve worked from home for over five years now and am not around people as often I expect my immune system isn’t as strong as it once was. 😫
‘I didn’t fully know if someone fancied me unless they sort of kissed me or we got up to something vaguely sexual.’ Um how else are we supposed to know again?
Great piece, Elaine. Love the witty stuff you toss in. (He hopes he isn’t accidentally ‘splitting any infinitives’ because he knows not what they are)

PS Hope you’re feeling 100% (or at least 98-99%) 😊
Goodness Elaine, that’s a long, persistent illness. I hope you’re able to regain your health. You’re very young…

That makes sense…
