Beautiful woman, thank you for all of this. Very brave of you to share so much — your experiences, your feelings, your working through. It is this sort of honesty that has impact. I will be reading this multiple times as there is so much to appreciate and absorb. Take good care of yourself over the holidays. xo Chris

I remember the day Bowie died. I didn't really read news and it was my fourth month at work in Australia (are our narrative timelines almost lining up?!?) I was just happy I've overheard a Bowie song over the radio twice in a day. Then someone told me why :(

Both off to begin new lives back then! 🤩🫶🏻 re the Bowie song — tangentially related/unrelated: My husband (Michael) and I have been watching Christmas films often as it’s the season for it and we watched Last Christmas and now he’s obsessed with Whamageddon stats! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Apparently, it is number one again. 🤔 I would happily head lots of of Bowie songs.

Not sure when you wrote the part about being sick…. I hope you’re better! Congratulations on the 200 subscribers. Chris mentioned some of the reasons readers identify with/appreciate your writing (and this goes for Chris, as well)…honesty and vulnerability. I believe most of us appreciate it when what’s written comes from the heart ❤️

Thank you for the shoutout and good wishes, Elaine. It is much appreciated!

You've had quite a full life between your relationships and all the places you've called home. The lessons learned from these experiences teach us to make better choices (I know this firsthand!) Thankfully, it results in a more grounded and happy life (which you've created with Michael.)

If only we were born with this wisdom instead of learning it the hard way!

🫶🏻 Some people learn it younger and others learn it the long way as you say. But I’m thankful for the life I’ve created now with the right partner for sure. Hope you had a wonderful holiday. 🥰🎄❤️

Hey Elaine, I’ve been meaning to write this comment for ages - but, Christmas! Gosh thank you so much for mentioning me here and for saying such kind things, too. I’m really touched and it genuinely means a lot. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed with life lately, and like I just can’t cope with everything, and wondering if I need to dial back my substack… but comments like yours give me the sustenance to keep going ❤️ I have saved your post to read properly once the craziness of Christmas and new year is over. I look forward to it. Happy holidays ☺️

It’s a good time of year to rest and recoup. And it is hard work emotionally to write about these subjects so give yourself grace—to write or not write—to read things or not read them. 🫶🏻 Definitely don’t make everything feel like a to do because that’s overwhelming. Just take care of yourself and take a break from it all if you need. I’m certain your audience will be waiting when you’re ready. ❤️
