Oh well this just made my day! Thank you for mentioning me!
There's a great book called Killer Looks by Zara Stone about people being given free plastic surgery in prison in the US to help them stop offending. The idea being they would get further in life if they didn't look like wrong 'uns. https://www.amazon.com/Killer-Looks-Forgotten-History-Plastic/dp/1633886727. Zara spoke to Amanda Knox about pretty privilege on her podcast.
(PS I too could have made more of pretty privilege if only I hadn't been such a bore, a complainer, and a pedant in my twenties. I wish someone had taken me to one side and explained how charm works and how far it would get me. And also handed me an Avamys nasal spray to stop me rubbing my nose all the time)
Love the pictures! The pirate outfit was a choice! Nothing wrong with looking a bit shiny (that's how we keep wrinkles away). I like your thinking: "With my religious upbringing, I have standards! my room is messy but at least I wasn't PLANNING to make out with a jawline god at a random house party. I was planning to get blackout drunk thank you very much"
Ohh let me know what you think re the book. LOLs lots of my outfit choices were questionable for sure but now I work from home in gym clothes so I’m not sure I’m winning at life by never planning outfits. The upside is I don’t often buy any new clothes. 🤷🏻♀️🤔😂
I'd say that's a plus! Nobody knows what to wear anymore anyway. From my observations Gen Z don't wear bras, Asians wear furry slippers outside, nobody wears scarves. That's it. You're not missing out on much.
🤣🤣🤣 My niece (12) dresses like it’s the 90s and tells me I’m embarrassing if I say that — and an aside to my sister that 90s things didn’t even look good then, especially the curtain bangs/fridge. 🙈 I think my baby sis (21) is classed as Gen Z and she has good style. But yeah, I’m not sure I’ve kept up with fashions but I hear long socks are a thing now (instead of ankle) and I can’t help but think of Boomers. 🤷🏻♀️ I still side part which apparently makes me look my age (far too close to 40). 🤣
Really enjoyed reading this, reminds me of my own dating years pre kids (I used to write a blog just like this one before I met my husband, so many awful/ill fated dates in my unpublished works 😂). Aslan sounds like a nice guy, but definitely not 'the one'. Looking forward to reading more 🍷
Aww thanks so much. Would love to read those heh! 🤣 This is my past too that led me to my husband (the right one) after so many not so right ones. 🤔😅 20s dating life is rough. 😬 Aslan was/is a lovely person. 🫶🏻
Thanks for the shoutout, Elaine!
I hope you enjoy Madeira. It's a breathtaking island, though make sure to rent a car.
Hey, Glad to hear you're getting some value from my short-but-sweet psychology posts. Thanks for acknowledging that and safe, fun travels to you all!
Loving them 🤩🙏🏻

PS: I just finished 'They both die at the end' and UGLY is next in my wishlist!
