HOORAY! WHY WE MET IS ONE MONTH OLD!
Thank you for reading (or skimming) along! Congrats...you've now read half a novel in length
My Substack is one month old.
Thank you so much to all who have read, liked, commented, or sent me messages privately about my writing this month. I appreciate the support.
Thank you to my 51 subscribers (yay exciting – and pretty much all friends and family! With a couple who quickly unsubscribed because the content wasn’t their jam – that’s okay – my goal is to find my audience).
I’ve had over 3,500 reads, which is VERY exciting.
If you’ve read every post (which I know many may not have had time) congrats you’ve read over 33,000 words which is half a short novel!
I’ve written over 52,000 words total this month (waiting in the wings to post with more words coming), which in addition to my full-time job and my freelance side gigs is quite exhilarating. I’ve loved the journey so far, getting up most mornings to write for an hour or two before work – and on weekends and sometimes my lunch break.
Heh! I’ll try and write a mix of shorter posts too as I know many have been on the longer side. I’ve planned for more than 60 posts to tell this first yarn - from the beginning to now.
Even though I get paid to write my freelance articles, it’s difficult to ask for money for what I consider my hobby.
I’ve set my subscription price to £4/month or £40/year with official founding membership at £100 (or whatever you feel like you can afford).
If you subscribe today, becoming one of my first paid subscribers, you’ll be locked into that price forever even if I raise subscription prices in future. So sign up! It’s £1 per week for you but it will help make my dreams a reality.
And you’ll never have a price increase. For now, all my posts have been free and accessible but starting next week, some posts (and behind-the-scenes snippets) will be for paid subscribers only.
Once I’ve told the long, winding story of how all of these experiences led me to Michael, leaving behind some lovely people in the past (and some who hurt me but who are probably lovely to their current partners as I’m sure we’ve all been on a journey in almost two decades), I plan to write broader posts about other topics that are meaningful to me, stories of significant friendships, other memories, lessons learned, and so forth.
Again, from this point on, some of my posts will be locked for paid members only. I’ll continue to post for free too but I hope you’ll consider signing up to support me. [Of course, Substack and the payment company (understandably) also take a cut so, of that £4, I’ll get around £3 (maybe a bit more) but it’s still exciting.]
Please consider becoming a paid subscriber today as it’ll mean the world to me to get paid for my work. In the meantime, my first 25 posts will be free. Then, I plan to release a minimum of four posts per month with two free and two paid posts (plus a little extra for paid members).
Thanks again for the support. xoxo
